Syncro’s broad mix of capabilities help our customers achieve a variety of organizational goals.
Finished Goods Inventory Reduction
An OEM providing trucking industry diagnostic systems needed a more responsive supplier. Their demand requirements were volatile and they were having difficulty getting on-deliveries when demand increased unexpectedly.
In addition, the customer wanted a supplier with the ability to support product introductions which included PPAP approvals, a willingness to provide visibility into material costs and a commitment to continuing cost reduction.
Syncro analyzed historical demand trends and the customer’s forecasts. An appropriately-sized finished goods kanban was developed. Logistics costs were further reduced through the use of re-useable bins. The end result was a reduction in the customer’s finished goods inventory of over 2 weeks.
New product introductions are supported with PPAPs and a formal project launch process. All phases of the project from material through production processes through logistics support are reviewed for cost reduction opportunities.
RF Expertise and Complete Product Lifecycle Support
An OEM providing meter reading equipment was developing a new RF-based product. They needed a supplier with both RF test development expertise and the ability to provide product introduction, box build manufacturing and post-manufacturing support services. Potting capability was also important as the product needed to withstand harsh environments.
Syncro worked with their design house in the product development phase and designed and managed the manufacture of the fixture for the RF test. Today, we provide a complete box build solution, fulfillment and post manufacturing support for this product.
Divestiture of Non-Core Competencies
An OEM providing industrial products planned to shut down one of their facilities and outsource its manufacturing. While there were a number of options available for outsourcing of their electronics production, they also operated a thick film fabrication and hybrid assembly operation that proved more difficult to outsource.
Syncro analyzed the opportunity and presented a transition plan for setting up a dedicated set of work cells to support the production. The transferred operation included 2 dedicated SMT lines and a segregated positive pressure room for thick film fabrication which includes printing, laser trimming and functional test. The customer continues to have strong control of a niche production process with the cost advantages associated with outsourcing the project.
